Jack Ryan is a Professor in the Department of English at Gettysburg College, where he also teaches in the Cinema and Media Studies Department and chairs the burgeoning Communication Studies Program. After more than fifteen years as a senior academic administrator, he has returned to full-time teaching, working with students, and additional academic pursuits. He is a consistent review contributor for Aethlon: Journal of Sports Literature and has contributed two essays to the journal, one on attempting to understand the World Cup while living in England and the other on Hunter S. Thompson. His book, John Sayles, Filmmaker, remains an essential critical study of the writer/filmmaker, and he has resurrected a long dormant project on Jim Jarmusch’s intratextual cinema.
