David Streitfeld is the editor of Hunter S. Thompson: The Last Interview and Other Conversations (Melville House, 2018). Streitfeld is the editor of The Last Interview books on Gabriel García Márquez, Philip K. Dick, and J.D. Salinger, all published by Melville House. He is a reporter for the New York Times, where in 2013 he was part of the team awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Explanatory Reporting. He has won various other prizes for his journalism. In the past he worked for the Los Angeles Times and Washington Post.
