ZU ZU YA YA, based in Louisville, Kentucky, was formed in 2018 by inspiring local musicians to recreate the sounds of New Orleans style rock and jazz. It started out as a tribute band playing the music of Dr. John. Celebrating the culture of the crescent city, they drew on brilliantly colored costumes, extravagant stage props, live dancers, and a blazing horn section. In 2019 the band released their debut album, Zu Zu Ya Ya, featuring all original tunes and performing at local venues.

Their follow-up album, Center of the Universe, released in 2022, brought an even more developed original sound, rooted deeply in funk, psychedelic, and rock ‘n roll as they toured festivals and music venues throughout the Midwest, making numerous appearances at Gonzofest Louisville and attracting hordes of music and art lovers as loyal fans. The band is currently working on their third album, anticipated to be released in the summer of 2025. It will be spotlighted at Gonzofest New Orleans in May 2025.
