Jay Cowan started writing very young and was lucky to meet HST while still in Aspen High School, beginning a 37-year friendship. He has over a thousand magazine stories published and numerous magazine feature-writing awards and was for five years editor in chief of Aspen Sojourner magazine, which won Maggie’s three years running for best in its class in the West. Author of multiple books including Hunter S. Thompson: An Insider’s View of Deranged, Depraved, Drugged Out Brilliance (www.gonzohst.com), Scandal Aspen, and In the Land of Living Dangerously: Bali, Borneo and Beyond. His hometown is Aspen. He is living in Montana.
