Roberts Bar is an old-school neighborhood haunt in Uptown New Orleans and has been serving all walks of life since the end of Prohibition in 1933. As it’s located across from Tulane University campus, a decent number of college kids swing through. But it’s far from considered a “college” bar. Robert’s has a large, staunch group of regulars that give it a good, hometown feel. It also has one of the only fully free pool tables in New Orleans, and Ping Pong, as well, is available to play free of charge. There is a nice covered back patio with two TVs and seating, and inside there are three video poker machines. There is a very high chance that you will strike up a conversation or meet someone with similar interests of your own at Roberts. Some call it the “Center of the Universe.” It is stated that Hunter himself graced the stools at Roberts after a speech he gave at Tulane University in 1990s. Dog friendly. So come say Hi to Resse, Tina, Dorian, Tyler, Deb, and Chirstian. They’ll be waiting for you and can’t wait to meet ya.
